Nowadays, leisure time is increasingly common in modern society, particularly for workers and students who spend most of their time sitting. However, this phenomenon has led to debate over whether leisure time should be used to improve the mind, such as reading or doing puzzles, or to rest the mind. Although both have their merits and demerits, I believe that leisure time should be used to rest the mind because it can improve individuals’ health and concentration, especially for workers.
Initially, some people believe that it is important to use leisure time for several activities which can contribute to cognitive development among people. In other words, leisure time should be used to enhance cognitive abilities by reading or doing some puzzles, which are beneficial for people’s cognitive development. By doing these activities, people can learn how to solve problems logically, and it can also enhance critical and creative thinking. For example, people who usually do some puzzles in their free time tend to have creative approaches to address difficult problems.
On the other hand, I believe that leisure time should be used to rest the mind rather than doing other activities. The reason behind this argument is the lack of time for people, particularly for workers, to rest their minds. In other words, workloads have significantly increased in recent years, and it may negatively affect workers’ both physical and mental health. By resting, it may make their brain more focused while they are doing some activities.
Ultimately, although some people argue that leisure time should be used to improve the mind, which can contribute to cognitive development among people, I believe that leisure time will be more beneficial if they rest their minds because it has a positive outcome on their health and concentration.
