It is a vital topic to discuss, whether it is appropriate to have any relationship between colleagues outside of their work field. There is a number of people who support the idea of socializing with work mates in oder to create a more productive environment, others consider this kind of interactions can lead to various issues, which might have negative impact on the working process including inability of maintaining high efficiency rate.
In one hand, the idea of improving social boundaries by organising activities in worker’s leisure time has its benefits such as: enhancing friendly atmosphere in the team, breaking down the barriers between co-workers, decreasing the stress tension. All these factors can contribute to better understanding among employees. For example, going outside the city for camping and hiking will assist in keeping more warm and relaxing working climate.
On other hand, it is crucial for the company to avoid rumours, competitions, different types of out of work relationships, dividing team-members into groups one against the other. It is a key aspect for both: companies and employees to maintain only work-related conversations to ensure the job environment is suitable for providing effective management.
In my opinion, both of these points of view have sense and can be taking into consideration. However, I personally think that the most significant point is in finding a harmony and balance between both sides . Weekends activities can be provided by the company, but no more than once in a month. As people also in need of spending their own time away from colleagues to reduce stress and focus on individual goals and priorities.
