There is an ongoing debate regarding mental or physical stamina is more necessary in terms of achievements in sport. While some support the idea that physical endurance is more essential to become a successful sportsperson, i concur with the people who view mental strength as a priority.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why physical strength must be the main criteria with regard to success for athletes. One of the factors that affects people’s opinion is the demand of sportsperson to be physically fit not only by sports agents but also the general public. That is to say they should demonstrate a well-built body to meet these demands, leading them to be favoured by the audience. Furthermore, they are required to become strong enough to perform in some labour demanding activities. For instance, football players have to become in the right physical shape to engage in the competitions, which enables them to run and do maneuvers much more conveniently and limberly.
On the other hand, the supporters of the opposite idea declare that it is useless to be physically sturdy without mental stamina. To begin with, if the sportsman is mentally ill, he will not be able to concentrate on the game, resulting in a failure. In other words, mental problems, namely depression, mental fatigue, or brain fog can cause a less-active attendance which hinder athletes performance in the contest. To illustrate, they will merely think about the issue that renders their undesired mood. Moreover, not all sports require physical labour, such as chess, as a result success is measured by chessplayers’ cognitive abilities. Additionally, even if the sportspeople are successful, mental strength is vital in order to maintain these accomplishments. It means they need to know how to perform under pressure and stress, as well as how to endure hard training sessions.
In conclusion, although physical activeness is necessary to perform in some sports, i assert that to become mentally strong is more important due to being successful sportspeople and maintaining this success.
