As of late, there has been a debate over whether social media has a positive impact or harmful. I personally am inclined to support the former.
To begin with, those claiming that social media has a negative impact have a strong basis to do so. The first reason is that nowadays more students spend most of their time on social media, but they need to focus on academic subjects which are more useful for their future careers. Another reason is that many people lose their sight watching the screens for a long time and interest in life because when a person scrolling social media, they become lazy and they didn’t want to do anything. For example, they scrolling Instagram, YouTube or TikTok and especially this way force people to become lazy.
Notwithstanding the above-mentioned argument, I strongly believe that social media is better. The primary reason making me believe so is that gives many opportunities for people. Many students or adults can learn new languages, read news nowadays and every day, and they can communicate with their close person through social media, for example, through calls. Also, they can learn new things on social media. For instance, they can learning to play an instrument or singing in a choir, which can improve a child’s concentration.
In conclusion, even though people arguing that social media is a waste of time have a solid ground to support their stance, I am still of the opinion that social media is beneficial due to the fact that it can improve people’s life.
