On the other hand, critics argue that a focus solely on punitive measures may not address the root causes of traffic accidents effectively. They propose alternative strategies to improve safe driving, including improving road infrastructure and implementing advanced safety technologies in vehicles. These measures directly address the physical environment and the capabilities of the vehicles themselves, potentially leading to a more sustainable decrease in accidents. Moreover, investing in comprehensive driving education programs plays a vital role in raising awareness of individuals. By equipping individuals with a thorough understanding of traffic laws and responsible driving techniques, these programs would deter drivers from engaging in reckless driving behavior, which would eliminate accident numbers as well.
