Band 5+: Some people think that strict punishments for driving offences are the key to reducing traffic accidents. Others, however, believe that other measures would be more effective in improving road safety. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

People believe that to reduce traffic accidents in the road, strict punishment should be applied. But other people agree that regulations are a more effective way to prevent accidents and improve road safety. While I believe that strict punishments are the key to reduce traffic accidents, I agree that there are other rules that are more effective to improve road safety.

On the one hand, by these strict punishments, the users will feel afraid of them and will be more careful to ride and drive their motorcycles or cars. No one wants to get punished and they will remember that they need to avoid the punishment due to heavy penalties. Furthermore, the aim of the driving penalty is to show them the negative consequences from their actions. For example, my best friend did not really pay attention to the traffic light when she drove 2 years ago and it led her to an accident and punished by the police officer. After this tragedy, she really pays attention and focuses while she drives and feels afraid of the punishment. Since that day, she has never had an accident anymore.

On the other hand, standards are important and more effective way to reduce the traffic accidents. Firstly, we need to prevent accidents before they happen by campaigning on social media/ by educating people properly before they start to drive, this could be done in school or as a part of a difficult driving test to get a driver ‘s license. Secondly, the government should create the. If there are regulations created by the authorities, the road’s users will understand about how to ride and drive in the right way. People will be knowledgeable about traffic regulations. For example, my mom keeps an eye to read and makes her understand about the road regulations and how to drive correctly. She did this when she can drove a car for the first time around 10 months ago. And the result of this is she never has accident until now.

In conclusion, I believe that traffic accidents can be reduce by applying both strategies such as giving strict punishments and creating regulations on how to ride and drive properly.
