Many people argued that international cooperation primarily aims to protect the environment, whilst others believe that the main interest of that is to foster economic development. In this essay, I will discuss both views and present my own standpoint.
To begin with, international cooperation is very essential for environmental protection for several attractive reasons. Firstly, the collective efforts from different nations can lead to positive impacts in reducing man-made disasters to the ecosystem. This is mainly due to the fact that practices that international cooperation had given could tackle the threat of damaging the environment in the world. For instance, according to the research of The World Environmental Protection, deforestation and poaching have led to degrade ecosystems and deplete natural resources heavily in some Southeast Asia countries between 1990 and 2000. From that point on, international cooperation works to raise awareness of environmental issues for citizens and have strict policies for individuals who illegally hunt and destroy the forests. As a result, deforestation and poaching have decreased significantly and environmental protection work has improved. Secondly, multination collaboration also provide many measures and methods as the solution to save the planet. Since global warming had made the planet warmer, causing natural disasters and extreme weather patterns that damage people globally in recent decades, collective efforts of multination having endeavors of carbon emission reduction and alternative energy to solve the issue, saving our world today.
On the other hand, I also believe that the main interest of international cooperation is in economic. The main reason is that many countries join international organizations to gain economic merits that promote growth. For example, European nations that joined the European Union benefit from abolish border control, so they could have free movement and can travel across the continent. This thing significantly boost the tourism of these countries, thereby develop their economic. In addition, joint effort from all nations in foster and also maintain economic stability can supporting tax relief on imports and exports and creating many job opportunities for the citizens. Therefore, improving the standard of living and also facilitating the foreign trade.
In conclusion, both perspective I have mentioned have their strong arguments. I maintained the opinion that international cooperation can build collective efforts and benefits from world businesses and environmental protection.
