There is a heated debate over whether zoos are cruel and should be shut down. I believe that these places are indeed beneficial for preserving wild animals.
On the one hand, zoos can be deprived of their freedom which makes people steadfastly cling to the opinion of closing the zoos. The majority of Zoological will have limited living space and not accurately replicate their habitat compared to their natural ones. Moreover, some of them can be trapped in cramped cages because they can pose a threat to both other wild animals and people to the zoos. This leads to wild animals experiencing stress and depression and in the worst-case scenario, die. Furthermore, the core purpose of zoos make profits. Owning to this, the managers of their zoos will restrict the animals’ space so tourists can observe a close look at them. Thereby, establishing zoological gardens is not merely about protecting, but also making money.
On the one hand, numerous species are put in danger, especially endangered species for highly poaching such as elephants, rhinoceros whose ivory become an icon in upmarket status. Additionally, climate change also exerts an extensive influence on a wide range of wild animals’ habitats, which will be deteriorated either quality and quantity of the species. To be more specific, global warming has been depleting their food sources and shelter. It is no exaggeration to claim that zoos play the most important role in maintaining and boosting their reproduction process. Setting up zoos can protect wild animal from those factors and equip them with being full of food and suitable living conditions.
To conclude, Nevertheless, some zoological gardens are running the wrong purpose, I am convinced that zoos are the most efficient way to protect wild animals.
