Opinions differ as to whether the responsibility of an educational institution is to instruct students how to become good people in society or focus on the advantages of students as individuals. Personally, I partly agree with this statement for the following reasons.
On the one hand, schools offer valuable opportunities to prepare knowledge and develop essential skills that help train responsible residents. Firstly, with the guidance of professional educators, children will receive a conducive learning environment that raises their awareness of societal issues. Through knowledge from lessons, for instance, subjects like history and ethics help learners understand the importance of the knowledge of society’s values, laws, and civic duties that play a crucial role in maintaining a well-functioning society. Moreover, collaborative learning activities in class, such as group projects and class discussions encourage students to share ideas, solve problems together, and learn from one another’s perspective. Therefore, fostering teamwork skills, and problem-solving skills are pivotal skills to contribute effectively to society and business as a whole.
On the other hand, it is irrefutable that promoting the potential of individuals is necessary to ensure the comprehensive growth of children. Every child has unique talents, interests, and potentials that must be nurtured and unleashed. Schools should not only prioritize promoting their social interaction but also provide opportunities for them to explore and develop imagination and innovative thinking. For example, when students participate in art lessons, they can immerse themselves in a world of color, allowing children to show their reflection or unique ideals, which activates the brain to enhance them associated with creativity and abilities. So providing a wide range of subjects or extracurricular activities can help students discover their strengths and orient purpose for future careers. By focusing on individual development, schools can support students in achieving personal fulfillment and becoming a good part of society.
In conclusion, while school can be beneficial for developing aspects of students to help train good citizens with professional teachers combined with extra activities, I believe that schools can offer a more structured and comprehensive education for students to ensure well-rounded development and benefit for society.
