In the 21st era, there is a quarrel on investing money on technology advancement for space exploration. Therefore, some individuals hold a view that this money is more beneficial if being spent on other aspects of society. From my point of view, I partly agree with this hypothesis.
On the one hand, investing money on upgrading the technology in order to explore space is justified due to several following reasons. First and foremost, space exploration drives technological innovation which serves as a pivotal figure in society. For example, a wealth of technologies that we now take for granted, such as satellite communications, GPS, and advancements in materials science, have emerged from space research. These innovations not only enhance our daily lives but also contribute to various sectors, including medicine, environmental monitoring, and disaster management. The second reason is that space exploration fosters international collaboration and inspires future generations. To illustrate, achieving a goal in the astronomical field requires a combination of countries with comprehensive experience of a sheer volume of people. As a consequence, it enables these countries to empower relationships with each other which creates a premise for young generations.
On the other hand, besides the technology of space exploration, there are more appropriate utilization of money. First of all, nowadays, many of the world’s problems require urgent attention and funding. For instance, in several undeveloped countries, millions of people frequently face problems such as poverty, hunger, and inadequate healthcare. Investing in programs that provide food, shelter, and medical care could significantly improve lives. As a result, redirecting funds from space exploration to these areas would have a more immediate and tangible impact on society. Secondly, pressing environmental issues, such as climate change and biodiversity loss, also demand immediate action. To illustrate, investing in renewable energy technologies, sustainable agriculture, and conservation efforts would yield substantial benefits for the planet. These initiatives can lead to a healthier environment and a more sustainable future, which is crucial for the survival of current and future generations.
