In the century of the development of technologies, some people argue that governments should spend money on space exploration, while others believe that it is frivolous usage of money, and public money must be rather invested in existing issues on earth. I contend that spending money on the world’s problems is more pertinent than looking for other planets, because in order to reach other planets, we should overcome this planet’s challenges as it has higher effects on people.
Proponents of this tendency assert that space exploration would give people a notion about the humans’ origin and open new opportunities. By exploring other planets individuals would be able to find answers for all enigmatic questions. Consequently, it would lead to groundbreaking discoveries in the field of astronomy and physics. Moreover, looking for life in other planets may have an ability to guarantee safety for inhabitants of the earth. If scholars will find a planet with appropriate conditions, resembling Earth, half of the abundance of people on Earth can move to another planet. For instance, NASA already started to investigate Mars, and proved its suitable temperatures for life.
Conversely, the significance of the environmental and social issues on Earth cannot be understated. There are still millions of people suffering from poverty and lacking education and healthcare. For example, residents of African countries heretofore living in grisly conditions, and the lack of basic necessities is leading to the proliferation of plenty of diseases. Furthermore, the effects of climate change are escalating day by day. The previous disquieting situation in the USA, wildfire, took away the houses of many local people and polluted the air. It is essential to grasp the alarming problems of the earth, and governments should take urgent action to reduce the aforementioned impediments.
In conclusion, while the astronomical developments are entailing new technologies by exploring other planets, the issues of the earth need more urgent reaction from governments to solve the socio-economic problems in our world. I believe that we should prioritize these issues over technological developments, as they can lead to much more salient repercussions for humans’ lives.
