In the contemporary epoch, the idea of whether to allow the majority of employees worked from home instead of commuting to an office remains a source of controversy among the public. While there are some disadvantages, I believe that the advantages of this trend a more significant.
On the one hand, working from home can have negative impacts on work performance of employees and the mental health. To begin with, working from home can have badly effects on work productivity. This could be explain by the fact that, employees are often distracted by household chores or family members. As a result, they cannot focus entirely on their tasks. Moreover, this trend can have negative impacts on the mental health of workers. When staying at home for a long time makes people feel isolated from their colleagues. Consequently, they may suffer from loneliness or stress.
On the other hand, the benefits of working remotely are much greater. Firstly, it helps people save a lot of time and money on travelling. Instead of spending hours in traffic jams, employees can use that time to relax or be with their families. Hence, they feel less stressed and more energetic. Futhermore, this trend can have positive impacts on the global environment. When the majority of people stop commuting, the number of private vehicles on the road decreases significantly. Therefore, air polution in big cities is reduced. For example, during the social distaning period, many reports showed that the air quality in Hanoi became much better.
In conclusion, it seems to me that although working from home can cause some distractions, the benefits of saving time and protecting the environment are more important.
