Some tertiary education students would argue that they are interested in learning additional subjects along with their main subjects, while others think that it is more crucial to pay all of their attention and focus on qualification. While studying other fields is educational and adds variety to the learning process, I believe that it is better to allocate all of your time to your current degree.
On the one hand, studying additional subjects is meant to enrich your learning process. Studying only one subject every single day repetitively tends to be mentally exhausting activity, and having a chance to study other fields might make your college days even more dynamic and creative. For example, the University of Yale recently came up with an idea of adding extra hours of astronomy sessions for those who want to attend, to add variety. However, I believe that in most cases students do not have extra time for such activities.
On the other hand, giving all the time to studying for a diploma is much more significant for graduation. Directing all of your focus and time to your main subjects will result in better academic performance and higher grades since students are focused on one clear goal. Moreover, concentrating on one field helps students master it faster and achieve better results. For instance recent study in the UK has shown that most students prefer to focus only on one area and work on gaining knowledge. I believe that this option is more preferable because it is harder to take up several subjects at once.
In conclusion, although getting to study a multitude of different subjects makes the study process diverse, I believe that focusing on one field is considered to be beneficial in student’s success.
