With the advent of technology, it is possible for students to study remotely, and ultimately there is a view suggesting that traditional lessons are considerably favourable rather than learning in solitude. Personally, I wholly agree with the given proposal due to collaborative learning opportunities, but we should not discount home education.
Firstly, studying with a group facilitates the opportunity for collaboration and interaction with others. Cooperative learning environments allow for the exchange of ideas, group discussions, and peer-to-peer teaching that can deepen understanding of complex topics. Furthermore, there is potential for the contribution of friendly competition among peers, as it has been known for centuries that individuals usually aim to surpass one another.
Secondly, people who study alongside others can practice and develop essential soft skills. Group cooperation compels individuals to communicate effectively, respect everyone’s opinions, and handle disagreements intelligently. These help students refine their communication skills, teamwork abilities, and foster an environment of mutual support. As a result, it benefits students academically and prepares them for future professional endeavors.
On the contrary, online learning has several benefits, but they do not outweigh those of cooperative learning. Undoubtedly, electronic devices enable online learners to study at home and save them valuable time. Moreover, they can study at their preferred time. However, these unique advantages are still lacking in comparison to traditional learning, since they do not provide interpersonal interactions.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that despite the convenience of studying from home with gadgets, learning in a group with other students is more beneficial because it offers significant merits, such as the development of soft skills and communication.
