As urban populations continue to grow many large cities face increasing pressure to provide sufficient housing for their residents. Some people believe that constructing high-rise apartment buildings is the most effective way to accommodate the growing demand for homes in Metropolitan. I agree with the given statement to a large extent. My inclination is elaborated in ensuing paragraphs and relevant examples.
The foremost argument to justify my stand is that in large cities the land is limited and not affordable for majority of people.One high rise building can accommodate a large amount of families on a plot that could accommodate only a few private houses. It helps address their housing shortages problem.For example, cities such as Hong Kong have successfully accommodated millions of residence by constructing high-rise residential buildings despite severe land shortages.
Furthermore, residential buildings make the urban life more straightforward. Leaving densely enables residents to utilise public transport schools, hospitals and shops more effectively. It also proves more cost-effective for government to provide utility services which ultimately promotes sustainable urban development.
For instance, many residential towers in Singapore are located near public transport networks, educational institutions and healthcare facilities, making urban living more convenient and efficient.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that building tall apartment blocks is the best solution to housing shortages in major cities because it saves space and accommodates a large population efficiently.
