Obesity is a growing monster that is following everyone nowadays. The amount of obese people is increasing more and more leading the health care system to wear out from the pressures of treating health problems. Some people think that sports and exercise in schools’ curriculum play a vital role in controlling this issue. I completely agree that this is the best way to address the issue of declining public health in relation to weight.
Firstly, exposing students to exercise regularly make it part of their daily routine. People repeat what they are used to in their childhood. Therefore incorporating sports in kids day to day routine through the school will help them build good habits that they will carry later on in their lives. As a result, they stay healthy and avoid being overweight. For instance, pupils who grew up with sports tend to lead a healthy life with minimal obesity rates than their peers who didn’t.
In addition, students spend a fair amount of time setting at desks so physical exercise prevent them from gaining weight. School is built around desk activities, most of the time students are not moving much. Hence, this sedentary life style encourages them to put on weight. For example, students get overweight during exam seasons due to low physical activity.
To sum up, the expanding numbers of people who are obese is adding struggles to the public healthcare. For this reason, introducing physical exercise in schools will help solve this problem, because it will help students embrace sports as part of their daily routine and avoid prolonged setting at desks for hours. In my opinion this is a crucial key to handle obesity and its health problems.
