One of the main causes of this trend is the fact that crime sector is often the most lucrative and accessible area for youngsters, due to the high student fees which their parents could not afford paying. As a result, young people earn money by violating the laws, such as selling drugs and robbing houses, because they do not have a degree for working on a respectable job. Another reason is criminals are usually being honored and idolised by various TV shows and serials. This leads to wrong moral standards in the teenagers’ lives, who tend to follow the lifestyle of their idols.
Turning to the effects of this trend, the increasing crime rates among young people can lead to the deterioration of the economy and infrastructure in many countries. In other words, instead of working on prestigious jobs and contributing in the society’s progress, teenagers will live a life of crime, making living in cities more dangerous.
