During the past few years, pollution and traffic-related issues have become a major global issues at an alarming rate. Many people argue that the government should limit the number of transport vehicles per family in order to decrease contamination. In my point of view, I totally disagree with the given statement.
To begin with, almost all developed countries in the world have switched from using vehicles powered by fuel and gasoline to using electric sources, and using electricity is not harmful to the air. In my country – Vietnam, there are many households using environmentally friendly electric vehicles. For example, the car company Vinfast and the tech-based motorbike taxi brand called Green SM.
In addition, using a car is completely a personal decision for each person. They use cars because they find it more convenient because public transportation takes time and in Vietnam the public transportation network is underdeveloped. On the rainy days, taking the public bus often takes a lot of time for waiting and it could make you wet and affect your appearance. For example, a family of husband and wife work at 2 different companies, they need 2 cars to go for work. Furthermore, public schools in Vietnam do not have school buses, only private schools do so students still need their parents to take them to school.
To sum up, limiting the number of cars per family to only one is not the optimal solution to the problem of traffic congestion and pollution. However, it is something that certainly needs to be done in the right situation.
