There happens to be a growing concern in regards to the overall well being of members of the community, with the recent surge in the rate of obesity among said members. This unfortunately, has placed a heavy strain on the health care system that tries so valiantly to address and resolve health issues in society. Some vocal members, voice their concern by advising that physical education classes should be added onto the school’s curriculum. In this essay, I will attempt to showcase how I support this motion.
Indeed, physical education can be an essential tool to introduce some much needed fitness level for school kids who, reportedly, exhibit the highest rates of obesity in society. Children’s habits of playing video games and relying on fast food meal options, renders their lifestyle quite sedentary. Good exercise rounds in PE classes can be a foolproof method to counter that lifestyle imbalance. Another benefit for physical education in schools, is that PE does wonders when it comes to boosting children’s immunity and cardiovascular system. Indeed making the children get used to exercise in various forms, preps them up for later, more demanding, excursions in life. Such vocations that demand heavy duty measures in their adult life, would be much more manageable, should the younger generation have prior experience in their formative school years.
However, a point of contention should be made, in the sense that PE should not, by all means, subdue the school curriculum, or even replace it entirely. Such a motion would counter balance the education process and halt the development of the younger generation in the future.
With that said, I, whole heartedly, support the resolution to introduce PE classes into the school curriculum, in an effort to combat obesity concerns among members of the society and educate them towards a better future and a better tomorrow.
