On the one hand, opponents of social media argue that these platforms may lead to serious problems. Cybercrime, for instance, has become increasingly common among people of all ages, including scams, spam messages, and the theft of personal information. Such crimes are often committed through platforms like Zoom and Telegram, where individuals can make video calls, send messages, and use various online services. As a result, these platforms are sometimes associated with security risks.

In 2021, more than 40,000 online crimes related to social media platforms were reportedly recorded in the United States and Ukraine. Many citizens claimed that governments should take greater responsibility for protecting users’ personal data. Although authorities hired software engineers to improve cybersecurity, some people still lacked awareness about online safety.

On the other hand, supporters of social media believe that these platforms offer significant advantages. For example, disabled individuals are able to communicate across long distances more easily through online applications. Furthermore, social media makes it possible to attend online classes, participate in debates, and even vote or share opinions regarding new laws and regulations.

Regarding the concerns about cybercrime raised by opponents, many governments and organizations have recently launched advertising campaigns to educate the public about online dangers. Supporters also argue that social media itself helps spread awareness quickly through news broadcasts and educational content, allowing users to protect themselves from harmful activities.

In conclusion, I believe that the advantages of social media outweigh its disadvantages. Although cybercrime continues to increase, both governments and individuals share responsibility for improving online safety. Overall, social media continues to play an essential role in modern communication and digital connectivity.
