Nowadays, people are able to share their negative emotions publicly due to the spread of social networks. This essay discusses the downsides of aggressive self-expression on the internet and the possible results of the pessimistic content.
The major disadvantage of negative views on the internet is the viral distributing of pessimism in society. In comparison to happiness, anger is easily absorbed by people, so the wide access to frustrating news will increase aggression. According to recent research by HSE scientists, more than half of the interviewed youth notice changes in their mood after reading their friends complaining in VK. As a result of frequent criticism, subscribers and friends stop paying attention to a person. They are trying to avoid the toxic environment that this person has created. Obviously, the most efficient way to avoid it is ignorance.
The frustrating texts for a large audience may cause outrage. The criticism may become the Pandora box, especially if the author describes his point of view on a controversial topic. For instance, a large part of modern riots and protests have roots in complaints on the internet. However, this aggression is able to be a catalyst for future improvement. For example, one Facebook text about the leg trauma, which was caused by the low quality of a running track, became a point for the development of the sports area in my neighbourhood.
In conclusion, the frustrations and complaints on social media platforms make people feel worse, causing issues between them. Nevertheless, one’s aggressive behaviour may lead to the development of city or society.
