Using genetically modified organisms in products is a debated topic. People can get supplied with more products this way. Additionally, it can preserve foods from extinction. However, some foods may lose their nutritional benefits and chemicals, which are injected while using GMOs can be risky for humans’ health.
People can consume more foods, owing to the use of GMOs. There are some places, which are not in a situation to get enough harvest. In these places, the soil may not have some nutritionals for growing fruits or vegetables. Also, because of too hot or too cold weather conditions, people can’t get enough food. Thus, scientists or food engineers can use GMOs in products from these places to get other kinds of foods. For example, individuals can change DNAs of some grains to get corn in some cold countries such as Russia. Moreover, humans can inhibit the extinction of some food generations. The pollution, some diseases, climate change, etc can cause the endangerment of foods. But, with the help of GMOs, stopping this risk is plausible. For instance, the consequences of coffee do not seem good. It may be extinct in 150-200 years, but we can get coffee from other plants with the help of GMOs.
Although these advantages, there are some drawbacks of GMOs. Individuals can face loss of benefits for their health in products. Some worry the quantity can be lower in modified products. The quantity of these foods can decrease because of it. To illustrate, bananas are not healthy as they were after the use of GMOs. Furthermore, the chemicals that are used in modified foods can be unhealthy for people. It’s arguable that these kinds of foods may have a bad influence on sick people. One clear example is old humans. They mostly prefer natural products for their health.
To sum up, using GMOs in food production can support individuals with more stuff to eat and it can save foods from extinction. Nevertheless, some modified foods may not be as healthy as unmodified ones. In addition, they can be dangerous for human health.
