In this day and age, social media becomes more popular and predicts to alter the direct interaction in society by the modern usage. While there are some negative problems, it will be more optimistic sides about this. In my perspective, I think the advantages of this will outweigh the disadvantages.
First of all, using social media will make people more convenient. During the development of the world, everyone becomes busier and do not have enough time for communicating, so the usage of social media will help them comfortable to have a conversation. For example, a student who study abroad for a long time cannot go back home often, so the best way to meet family is to use some apps such as Messenger, Whatsapp,… to see each other through the screen. Moreover, social media can help us buy personal care which is the reason many shopping apps established, we just need to surf the website and then choose the items we want to buy and wait for the deliveries. Secondly, the other usage of social media is easy to make new relationships. Not only we can freely have a conversation to a stranger all over the world, but we can also find out a matching foreigner by using some chatting apps like Wechat, Instagram,…. Another reason is that people can save their time by using social media. For instance, when we want to talk to our best friends but we cannot go to their places because of the long distance, so we can use face call to talk to each other and that we do not need to move for a long hour.
On the other hand, there are also some potential pessimistic sides. Firstly, our information can be used by strangers. Because of the AI development, technical criminals can use our information such as face, name, age, gender,… to do the fraud. For example, a girl usually update her private life on social media can easily provide for the crime more informations and then the crime will use her information like changing face, alter voice to cheat money from her family and friends. Another key point is we can have a distance in our relationships. It is just because we do not have any interaction with each other directly and we cannot see each other for a long time, so that’s why it becomes less emotions and love in relationships.
To sum up, using social media has both sides: positive and negative. But in my view, the advantage of this will outweigh the disadvantages. Some optimistic sides that social media bring to people are convenient, easy to have new friends around the world and save our time. Although the opposite sides that our information will be used by criminals and our relationships will have a distance.
