Advantage And Disadvantage

Band 5+: The use of social media is replacing face-to-face interaction among many people in society. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

More and more face-to-face interaction is being replaced by the use of social media in today’s society. This certainly has more disadvantages than advantages. The social and humanitarian side can decline because of this.

Nowadays, many people are found interacting via social media, without knowing directly who they are *socializing* with. This has quite an influence on social life. People are becoming more interested in using social media via cell phones to interact with outsiders, but ignore who they meet in the real world or don’t care about their surroundings.

On the other hand, the human side can also be injured through lots of social media interactions. Nowadays, many crimes are found that originate from social media. Someone who is being communicated with may not show their real profile in the real world or even have bad intentions towards the social media user they are interacting with social media, people can use fake identities to interact. It could be disguised as a close friend or even someone who has interests. It is not uncommon for this to be used for something that is detrimental to other people. Losses here include fraud or even committing acts of violence. Therefore, social media has a negative side that you have to be smart about selecting.

In conclusion, social media has disadvantages if we are not good at sorting out the functions of its use well. This may not only harm ourselves, but also the quality of interactions with people and the environment around us.
