People nowadays would like to change their jobs more rapidly and frequently than before. There are probably a plethora of reasons that led them to change their work more frequently, but the primary two reasons, I believe, is because of the highly development of information, and meaning driven careers. Which, in my opinion, is a positive development for employees.
Firstly, in this information-rich era, finding information has become more and more easier for everyone, which also benefits us for knowing whether the salary and benefits that employers give us is fair or not. According to data from Oxford University, more than 70% of individuals look for employment opportunities online and provide feedback to serve as a reference for others. This survey told the truth that information transparency could give us a plethora of benefits, the faster we find out that the job is not suitable or conducive for ourselves, the sooner we could change our jobs. It is a win-win situation, that we don’t need to waste time at a job that might not be helpful for our career.
The second reason is that people nowadays are not only satisfied with the jobs that could give us a higher salary, but also want to pursue a meaningful career. For example, there is an influencer called Wendy, she was a lawyer who could earn a lot of money before she became an influencer. But she has a dream to become famous, so she quit her high-paid job and started to film videos on youtube, although becoming a youtuber could not earn as much as a lawyer. However, she never regret with her decision because becoming a youtuber is more meaningful for her.
In a nutshell, people would like to change their jobs more rapidly and frequently due to the more and more opportunities that could help them truly know a company on the internet, and also to pursue their own career that they think is more meaningful to them. When things are transparent on the internet company would treat their employees more carefully, and when people are doing the job they like to do, it will increase the quality of it. So I strongly agree that these two reasons would lead to a positive development to the world.
