It is claimed that numerous places are increasingly noisy these days. Urbanization and the lack of regulation are major contributors to this crisis. Based on this, government and police are responsible for solving this problem.
An overwhelming amount of evidence shows various types of noise stemming from ineffective management by local governments. The first significant reason is the overcrowding of residents and job seekers in big cities. More job opportunities are found in major cities because head offices of various businesses are located in financial centers, indirectly contributing to excessive migration of newcomers, which adds to an already loud environment. Moreover, the absence of relevant laws indicates ineffectual control by local governments. When authorities disregard noise pollution, civilians are emboldened to engage in rowdy behaviors, further normalizing the lack of regulation. For instance, in Bangkok, in addition to traffic buildup, the constant influx of tourists and job seekers amplifies the noise from an already deafening construction mecca. Since noise is not regulated in this city, many drivers honk their horns, knowing there are no repercussions for these actions.
Based on the reasons mentioned above, it is evident that official institutions should improve their management strategies. To address uncontrolled migration, the government can decentralize opportunities from big cities to various physical and digital locations. Specifically, laws should be passed mandating that a portion of employees in certain companies work remotely. This will not only mitigate human noise produced by job applicants but also indirectly lessen traffic congestion while saving remote workers transportation costs. At the same time, the police can enforce stricter regulations to solve this crisis. For instance, police in downtown Bangkok need to apprehend unruly drivers and enforce cash penalties. This loss of income would hopefully discourage individuals, creating a change in social behavior.
In conclusion, it is the administration’s ineffective management that leads to increasing populations and individuals’ unawareness, causing more crowded places. Therefore, the government should address the significant discrepancy between work opportunities in city centers and rural areas and improve regulations to decrease noise pollution.
