It is true that society is gradually changing, with mothers becoming the main breadwinners in the family and fathers staying home to take care of children. There could be several reasons for this, and I think this is a sign of a positive trend.
The main reason that led to the exchange of the traditional role of parents, is gender equality. Today, women work hard for themselves and prefer a high level of education like a man. A few decades ago, only men could earn a huge income. Therefore, women were taking care of children. But the time has changed. It has become normal for women to be responsible for managing family finances. Humans also gradually accepted that a man can be a househusband. Another reason is because of the rising cost of living, it is impossible for parents to hire a babysitter, especially in big cities. Therefore, in a family, one person has to go out to work and another is responsible for taking care of a young baby. And who stays home and who works depending on the division of each family.
In my view, this trend brings several benefits. Women have the opportunity to prove themselves, by pursuing careers, earning degrees and achieving many things. Similarly, men are free to leave their current jobs if they want to take on the responsibility of taking care of children. Therefore, families’ receipt of child care needs to be considered based on the couple’s ability to cope with the income they receive. Men becoming housekeepers can strengthen their relationships with children. In a 2015 study, children were found to have positive relationships with both parents when the father stayed home to care and the mother left home to work. This can be considered a good result in parents changing traditional roles in the family.
In conclusion, stay-at-home dads are a major achievement for gender equality. Furthermore, this trend is a significant improvement in society, which can alleviate many family problems.
