Recently, attending live events isn’t a requirement as the ones we can watch from our TV or computer screens suffice. In my opinion, I believe that face-to-face events are still essential but I also believe that virtual shows aren’t all that bad and are beneficial too.
Artists should carry out live performances as this leads to a nation’s socioeconomic growth. This is because foreign concert attendees will not only spend money on their tickets, but they will also pay for food as well as transportation which are run by locals. For example, the two-day Taylor Swift concert in Singapore called for the rise of tourists from neighboring countries. This is also due to the island being the only Southeast Asian country the global star visited on her world tour. All in all, live performances are advantageous to countries when it comes to the socioeconomic aspects of it.
On the other hand, fans should opt to attend events virtually as they are able to reduce their environmental impacts. This is because attending live events produce much more carbon emissions as well as a significant amount of waste. For instance, fans would have to travel to the location and buy foods which are often unsustainably packaged. Therefore, not only is watching performances at home far more convenient but it also saves Mother Earth.
In conclusion, as much as I think attending live events affects the environment, it is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience I wouldn’t want to trade for the world.
