It is argued that an increasing number of adolescents have become heavily dependent on technology when studying. In my opinion, this is primarily a negative trend, as it discourages students from developing their analytical skills and causes significant drawbacks in terms of their career advancement.
First and foremost, relying on numerous digital apps may deprive learners of opportunities to enhance their self-reliance and problem-solving skills. For instance, individuals using AI-powered tools frequently may get accustomed to acquiring instant answers without contributing intellectually. The more they seek help from these learning devices, the worse their critical-thinking skills become: a math student who often relies on artificial intelligence while performing tasks may struggle to engage even with basic mathematical concepts independently. Additionally, it may result in a deterioration of one’s academic performance, since many educational institutions prohibit utilizing external support during various exams.
Secondly, such an approach hinders young people’s personal and professional development. When applying AI-based tools in every assignment, teenagers may overlook their areas for improvement and make the same mistakes repeatedly. In turn, this reduces their chances of getting high-paying jobs, as they cannot describe their strengths and weaknesses effectively, provide employers with examples of their accomplishments, and demonstrate their suitability for a certain position. Therefore, these individuals tend to secure a job that may fall short of expectations, offering unsatisfactory working conditions.
To conclude, dependence on modern technology appears harmful for individuals’ knowledge and employability. Thus, I am firmly convinced that students should use them with caution in order to lay a solid foundation for their competencies.
