School-going kids have a lot on thier plates these days. But it is imperative that they learn certain values and behaviours in their school days. One of them is working together. It is believed that the finest method to teach them to cooperate is via team sports. I concur with this statement.
With the technological changes occurring around us, physical activity is slowly declining among younger people. Sports at school plays a critical role here. Along with the physical health benefits, it teaches a lot to the students. Team sports is the ideal way to coach them at being cooperative. Children will learn how to put aside their differences and work towards a shared goal. Aiding someone to help achieve a good result as a squad will instill in them a value of togetherness. Being a part of a squad, a child can also learn how to lead one.
An experienced batsman building a partnership with a bowler who has come into bat is a beautiful example of cooperation and team work. Both of them play different roles in the partnership, the experienced one guides the newer batsman and both work towards posting a good score on the board. There may be many such instances in sports like football, volleyball, basketball etc. Learning these values at a primary level will help the the younger ones become better citizens and lead a successful life.
I firmly believe that encouraging students to play team sports is the best way to teach them to cooperate.
