In recent years, it has been observed that there are different views regarding focusing on specific subjects. Some people argue that it is essential to support students in studying subjects outside of their majors, while some people believe that it wastes their time. I completely disagree with the view that university students should focus only on one specialist subject. This essay will examine the key reasons supporting this perspective, particularly developing different skills and discovering future career opportunities.
One main reason for this view is that studying different subjects allows students to develop a wider range of skills. In fact, these experiences make students more creative when they want to develop a new project to present at large international exhibitions, such as ISEF and ITEX. Not only does this help students become more inventive, but it also helps them solve problems in life. A study published by New York University concluded that 70% of the students who followed this approach enhanced their knowledge, which was also beneficial to them.
