There are several benefits and drawbacks of online learning in relation to conventional classroom education. In the rapid technological advancement, there is significant debate over the effectiveness of flexible online courses compared to the traditional classroom learning that we have all grown accustomed to. And I personally believe traditional classroom learning is highly influential over students than online learning.
First of all, the online learning process has its own advantage and disadvantages. Advantage of online courses is definitely the flexibilty, students can learn at their own pace and schedule and balance their personal life and work meanwhile their studying. However, the online learning disadvantages are such as limited social interaction, distractions. Students not being able fully interact with others may miss out on face-to-face interactions, which can affect social skills and networking opportunities. Also the home enviroment can lead to distractions that hinder concentration and productivity. Many students in mongolia during covid lockdown had a complaint about the online learning process, admitting that it was so distracting and not effective. Online learning enhances flexibility, it also raises concerns about social interaction and resource disparities.
Secondly, the traditional classroom learning strengths are face-to-face interaction with teachers and peers which improves communication skills, besides the structured environment provides students a focused and disciplined environment promoting better time management and organization. On the other hand, the weaknesses of classroom learning are limited flexibility that can be rigid, making it challenging for students to balance their education with other commitments. As well as, the varied pacing is often dictated by the majority, which may not suit all students making some students feel rushed while others may struggle to keep up. Studies have shown that students in face-to-face settings often perform better academically due to the social interaction and immediate feedback. Classroom learning offers valuable interpersonal interactions and a structured environment conducive to learning.
And at last, from my point of view, I believe the classroom learning process is much more effective than the online courses. Even from my experience during covid lockdown I had a hard time keeping up with my studies because of all the distractions, and the limited social interaction made me feel so distanced and lonely. However, being able to sit in a class with peers and interacting with teachers really helped me to raise my grades. Furthermore, being in a classroom obviously helps concentration and keeps motivated.
In conclusion, in essence everyone is diverse so online learning or classroom learning may not be the best option for you but for others. Particularly, I believe traditional classroom learning is more advantageous compared to online learning.
