The discourse regarding technological advancement gradually erasing the traditional identity of a developing country remains a subject of continuous debate. While technology contributes in overall societal development, I contend that upholding heritage and preserving culture is crucial for a more fulfilled and thriving society
Undoubtedly, countries investing in technology have improved relatively in various sectors such as education, healthcare, manufacturing and construction. While these contributions lead to societal advancement, many concerns are rising regarding its impact on traditions. One of the most common consequences of technological development is globalization; as it facilitates connectivity and trading worldwide, thereby, contributing in commercial trading, cultural exchange and diffusion. However, many cultural conservative critics argue that globalization has led to a pervasive loss of local cultural identities as global mega-brands eclipse domestic markets. For instance, the current generation mostly wears outfits from trending brands like Shein, H&M and Zara, while traditional customs are only worn on cultural occasions. Hence, a combination of social and economical factors resulted in the gradual disappearance of the cultural identity in numerous evolving countries
Nevertheless, traditions have been a long-standing part of human culture, shaping societies, families and communities for generations. Yet, its realization remains incomplete. Preserving the cultural identity is crucial; traditions play a pivotal role in identifying the historical background of communities, and their contribution in the ancient era. As a result, many countries are considering implementing strategic plans to uphold heritage and protect identity. For instance, in the UAE, educational institutes focus on fostering cultural appreciations by providing students with the opportunity to participate in cultural events and the national day, cultivating a sense of connection and belonging at such a young age. Maintaining cultural identity fosters stronger social bonds, ultimately promoting interactions and nurturing collaboration within community.
In conclusion, i strongly advocate for cultural conservation efforts in developing countries. While technological innovations contributed in the advancements of various public sectors, as well as globalization which facilitated commercial trading and cultural diffusion, it gradually wipes out the heritage, identity, and traditions of a country. By implementing strategical methods to preserve culture and uphold heritage, we aid to foster a greater sense of connection and belonging, ultimately contributing to stronger social bonds within the society.
