In recent years, there has been a huge increase in the number of individuals questioning the merits and demerits of work-based trainings in comparison with undergraduate programs. On the one hand, one key benefit is that students will have a job straight after and they will know precisely what they need to do. However, a significant drawback is that students will not be widely educated about their sphere of work and will know mostly only practical part of it without any profound knowledge.

To begin, there is an argument to be made that young generation who attend apprenticeships are more likely to get the job. For example, there are people from film industry who have not attended any universities but they went to the film set, straight away after short courses. For this reason, it is evident that people can work and earn a lot of money despite the fact that they do not have a diploma. They have earned the experience and connections which have helped them to start the career. What is more, they do not waste time at university studying additional subjects that they would never use in their professional life. Combination of age and experience is crucial.

This being the case, it can be assumed that if youngsters choose universities, they will lose time and practical skills which they could mold at the traineeship. Nonetheless, it must be stated that without an university diploma, young man will not understand the full deep of the profession they have chosen. For instance, in any sphere of our life people should know more then just their profession because it is usually wider than one topic. People should have knowledge in may spheres in order to accumulate it and being a fully educated person. Furthermore, without additional studies of minor topics, young men will not be able to fulfill their main speciality and they will lose in front of people who know more because it’s vital to know a bit more to find the answers to the difficult questions when your ordinary experience is now enough. With this in mind there is no doubt that if young professionals are developed in many spheres of their lives, they will be more successful.

To conclude, while some feel that university education is the main path for young people, others, myself included firmly believe the opposite.
