Nowadays, a type of scientific tests are sharply contested by a growing portion of the citizens. This part of the population believes that animals must have rights and want to ban experimentations on animals. However, other people consider there is no alternative to support innovation and they approve these methods. In my opinion, animal experiments remain necessary due to the fact they are essential to bring more medical progress. My essay will emphasise my view.
From my point of view, experiments on mammals such as monkeys or apes can be endorsed by several reasons. Firstly, since two centuries humanity has known considerable medical progress such as vaccine, antibiotics or modern surgery. In this case, the mortality rate has plunged for two hundred years and the life expectancy has rocketed. Furthermore, many of these successes were allowed by utilization of beast for scientific tests. For instance, Paster’s vaccine had been invented after experimentations on mammals. Consequently, if science hadn’t used animal experiments mankind would have been less healthy.
Secondly, I strongly believe that is preferable to save human lives despite animals casualties. Moreover, people which argue that animals shouldn’t be used to bring medical discoveries seem thinking that human life is similar as beast life. Indeed, in a democracy all opinions can be defended freely. Nevertheless, this philosophy could be dangerous for human progress.
To conclude, I support experimentations on animals because they remain efficient and indispensable. I also must admit that a framework needs to be created to prevent excess and unnecessary animal scientific tests.
