In this modern era, animals are used as experimental value instead of human being, in which some determine that it is unethical to sacrifice the animal for the good purpose and should be banned. However, latest scientific evidence were found by using the animal. This essay will explain why we need certain types of animal for the purpose of research and if there is replacement sample available.
Previously, prisoners of war or bandits were used as sample in the experimentation, either in the determining the cause of disease or in evaluating the efficacy of certain medications. However, there were unjustifed to send human for deadly experiment instead, some animal are purposely breed for the experimental materials. In fact, latest advance in medical field shows that there is possibility of transplant of diseased human heart with piggy’s heart.
However, some might think that there shall be substitute material for research purposes instead of using live animal. Latest technologies are indeed developing new methods of experiment based on recent findings, scientists are exploring more on the pathogenesis of each disease and the molecular abnormality in relation to each disease. Later on, the abnormal molecular are extract and administer to the lab animal. Subsequently, the lab animal will produce the chemical structures or antibodies molecule to eliminate the disease. Eventually, the chemical structures produced by animal can be extracted without taking the life of the animal.
In conclusion, experimentation on animal should be gradually reduce and we need to continually developing new technologies in order to make our live better without harming any animal. While it may be true that experimental on animals cannot be totally abolish but effort should be put forward to save the little creature.
