The question of whether individuals should have some limitations on noise produced by them or no control should be exerted over this issue, is a topic of an ongoing debate. Some contend that quiet hours to control noise especially during night time is crucial, while others advocate that it is an individual’s fundamental right to make as much as noise they want . However, while, I acknowledge both the perspectives, I am inclined to agree with the notion that there should be regulated laws to control noise pollution as it can be quite disturbing.
Noise pollution is one of the biggest problem, we are facing, which can be caused by horns in a traffic jam, loud music in concerts or bursting firecrackers. This has the ability to disturb animals, cause immense harm to elderly and children in terms of their physical well-being. Therefore, it is government’s responsibility to imply strict laws against the levels of noise to control the damage, it can cause. For example, in europe, there are quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. in order to prevent loud noises which can interfere with the sleep of any person but especially , older people and young children. This type of regulation ensures that the noise levels are with norms and is not harming anyone .
On the other hand, some argue that an individual has a right to produce any amount of sound, they want and they should not face any consequences. For example, in a concert or in clubs, people pay huge amounts of money just to enjoy loud music, which helps to forget stressors in their life for sometime and enjoy life. If this ambience is snatched from them, they will not have any other outlet to process their emotions, which might result in an increase number of psychiatric disorders such as depression and anxiety.
In conclusion, while loud noise can cause serious health problems, there should be laws in place, to control that, but it can not be ignored that for some it is a way to handle their emotions and stress. As a result, I believe there should a balance between both, taking into consideration the levels and the amount of noise produced, and when, and where, it is produced.
