Band 4+: Write an essay on the reasons for the failure of resolutions

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

When we think about a person’s daily routines, one of the first things that comes to mind is the free time that a person spends for nothing. People spend their free time surfing on TikTok, Instagram, etc. So, it is a terrible choice to spend time and some people are starting to notice this. Thus, they set goals to spend qualified time. These goals may start new sports, read more books or etc. On the other hand, in some researches only of the resolutions can be achieved. These failures have some reasons such as unrealistic goals or no short-term results.

Firstly, one of the biggest mistakes in choosing goals is unrealistic thoughts. If a person chooses an unrealistic aim, he/she won’t be successful and it probably will cause unhappiness. Moreover, he/she won’t give any effort for resolutions after this failure. For example, students start to study at night before the exam and they expect to get higher notes, and for sure they won’t be successful in the exam. Therefore, they lose their motivation and it creates hopelessness.

Another reason for that is results that we cannot see in the short term. In today’s world, everybody wants to achieve something in a short time. Thus, if they cannot reach certain levels which they planned to happen at that time in their minds they lose their interest or motivation for this goal. Moreover, they don’t think that results may not be seen even if they have. On the other hand, even if they have, good outcomes take a long time.

To sum up, a person who wants to make some changes in his/her life sets goals such as eating healthy, losing weight, or starting a new sport. However, researches show us the possibility of failure is too much, and this failure has some reasons such as goals that are impossible to achieve and no results in a short time.
