It has been seen that a lot of people like to watch foreign movies instead of the ones that are locally produced. This could be the case because people might want to experience new things which are not normally relatable to their lives, and surroundings and the quality of content produced locally might not be up to the mark. This essay believes that governments should support, and promote the local film industries because doing so will increase the quality of the content being produced as well as it will bring more income, and investments inside the country which can improve country’s economy.
People love to binge watch foreign movies rather than the ones produced by their local film industries because the plot and stories of foreign ones are often new, interesting, out of the box, and the content quality is top-notch. They want to experience new things, new cultures, new traditions along with new plots because one may get bored if all they see are the things and people that they always relate to. It might also be the case that the quality of movies being produced locally is not that much good and hence the person watching them finds it hard to understand the plot. For instance, I once came back from work and wanted to watch a local movie named ‘Divorced’ and as soon as I started, I could understand the whole plot ahead and it made me lose my interest in the rest of the movie.
Governments should support the local film industries however they can so that the quality of content becomes better, and doing so will increase the country’s economy in the long run. As the content of local movies starts to get better and more creative, people will become more attractive towards watching them in their free time. It will also boost the country’s economy because more people will watch them, generating more income and revenue for the producers, which will increase the incoming tax of the country. For example, if government promotes local movies, more local people will buy tickets for the cinemas which will generate more income for the producers as well as the economy of the country.
To sum up, people are often more interested in watching foreign films instead of local ones because the content quality is not good, and there is nothing creative and new in their plots. Governments should promote the local film industries so that the quality of content is improved along with country’s economy.
