This post contains ideas and band-9 sample answers (audio included) for the Cambridge IELTS 10 Academic Speaking Part 1 Question 2 Test 3 question:
“Have you done much traveling? [Why/Why not?]”
Sample 1: Plenty
Yes, I’ve embarked on numerous journeys. My company organizes a plethora of trips as they believe in the importance of work-life balance. These trips are not just for relaxation, but also for team building and fostering a cohesive work environment. The experiences I’ve had and the people I’ve met on these trips have been truly enriching.
Sample 2: Plenty
Indeed, I’ve spent a large portion of my life journeying to various corners of the world. I’ve chosen this lifestyle primarily out of an insatiable curiosity and a profound love for diversity. Being an avid globetrotter, I believe that each voyage offers a unique perspective and a wealth of experiences that no book or documentary can truly capture.
Sample 3: Plenty
Yes, I’ve traveled quite a bit. My family and I believe in the importance of stepping away from the daily grind to rejuvenate our minds and bodies. We make it a point to organize regular escapes to different destinations. These trips provide us with a much-needed respite and a chance to reconnect with each other amidst nature’s tranquility.
Sample 4: Plenty
Yes, I’ve done a substantial amount of traveling. I have a passion for photography and a fondness for diverse cuisines, so I always seize the opportunity to visit new places. Each journey allows me to capture stunning landscapes, savor exotic flavors, and create beautiful memories. I believe it’s important to live life to the fullest while I’m still young, and looking back at these moments gives me immense joy.
Sample 5: Some
Well, I wouldn’t say that I’ve traveled extensively but I’ve certainly had my fair share of adventures. You see, due to the demands of my professional life, I’ve often had to restrict my wanderlust. However, whenever I get the chance, I seize the opportunity to explore new places, immerse myself in different cultures, and broaden my horizons. I find such ventures to be both enlightening and refreshing.
Sample 6: Some
Although I don’t travel as much as I would like, I do make an effort to plan at least one trip each year. The primary constraint, as you might guess, is financial. I prefer to travel comfortably and wish to avoid stretching my budget too thin. This approach allows me to thoroughly enjoy each trip without worrying about expenses.
Sample 7: Little
Truthfully, I haven’t ventured out much. It’s not that I lack a sense of adventure, rather, I find immense contentment in the familiarity and comfort of my hometown. I enjoy the simple pleasures of knowing my neighbors, strolling through familiar parks, and appreciating the beauty in the everyday. Still, I do hope to satisfy my latent wanderlust someday.
Sample 8: Little
Sadly, I haven’t been able to travel as much as I’d have liked. My career has always been my main focus, and it often requires a considerable amount of time and commitment. The nature of my job doesn’t permit me to take frequent vacations. Nonetheless, I do look forward to a time when I can explore the world more freely.
Sample 9: Little
To be honest, I haven’t been able to indulge in a lot of globe-trotting. Most of my time has been invested in honing my academic skills and pursuing my degree. I believe that at this stage in my life, it’s crucial to focus on establishing a solid educational foundation, which unfortunately doesn’t leave much room for extensive traveling. But I do envision extensive traveling in the future once I have accomplished my academic goals.
Sample 10: Little
Frankly speaking, I’ve not traveled extensively. One of the reasons is that I haven’t found a suitable travel companion. In my opinion, shared experiences amplify the joy of travel, and I’ve yet to find someone who shares my travel interests and compatibility. I hope that I will find such a companion in the future and embark on some amazing journeys.
