This post contains ideas and band-9 sample answers (audio included) for the Cambridge IELTS 15 Academic Speaking Part 1 Question 2 Test 3 question:
“How often do you go swimming now? [Why/why not?]”
Sample 1: Regularly
At the moment, I’ve been hitting the pool quite frequently, devoting about three to four sessions per week to swimming. This newfound passion has been ignited by my endeavor to strengthen my social connections, as I often swim with a group of like-minded individuals who share my enthusiasm for the sport.
Sample 2: Regularly
As an avid swimmer, I make it a point to practice my strokes at least three times a week. I believe that regular swimming sessions not only keep me physically fit but also help me clear my head and gain a fresh perspective on things.
Sample 3: Regularly
These days, I’m making the most of the pool amenities provided by my apartment complex, swimming around three times a week. The proximity of the facility has played a crucial role in fostering a sense of community among residents, as we often gather to swim together and enjoy each other’s company.
Sample 4: Sometimes
In recent times, I have been swimming on an occasional basis, perhaps once or twice a month. I find it particularly appealing as it helps me unwind and escape the digital world, allowing me to reconnect with nature when swimming in lakes or the ocean. Unfortunately, my urban lifestyle and limited access to natural bodies of water hinder my ability to swim more often.
Sample 5: Sometimes
At present, I sporadically engage in swimming, say, every few weeks. It’s an excellent way to maintain my physical well-being and simultaneously achieve a state of relaxation. Nonetheless, my demanding lifestyle makes it challenging to allocate ample time for this activity.
Sample 6: Sometimes
At the moment, I occasionally go swimming, perhaps once a fortnight. The primary reason is that I find it an invigorating way to unwind and maintain my physical fitness, but my rather hectic schedule doesn’t always allow for more frequent visits to the pool.
Sample 7: Rarely
My current swimming routine can be best described as sporadic. This can be ascribed to my burgeoning interest in outdoor pursuits such as hiking and cycling, which have taken precedence over swimming in my leisure time.
Sample 8: Rarely
In all honesty, I seldom go swimming at present. The hustle and bustle of daily life has significantly diminished the free time I have for recreational pursuits. Although I miss the rejuvenating effects of swimming, I’m currently focusing on other aspects of my life.
Sample 9: Not Anymore
As much as I’d love to, I haven’t been able to go swimming in quite some time. Juggling various responsibilities has left me with hardly a moment to spare, and I’m afraid swimming has taken a backseat. It’s a pity, really, because I used to relish the tranquility that came with being immersed in water.
Sample 10: Not Anymore
To be honest, I don’t go swimming at all currently, as I haven’t acquired the ability to swim. My lack of proficiency in this area has made me hesitant to participate in water-based activities, even though I’m aware of the numerous advantages swimming offers.
