This post contains ideas and band-9 sample answers (audio included) for the Cambridge IELTS 17 Academic Speaking Part 1 Question 3 Test 3 question:
“Do you prefer drinking tea or coffee? [Why?]”
Sample 1: Prefer Drinking Tea
I have a predilection for tea over coffee, primarily due to its myriad health benefits. Tea, particularly green tea, is known to be rich in antioxidants, which can be advantageous in warding off diseases and boosting one’s immune system. Furthermore, tea offers a soothing and relaxing experience, making it an excellent choice for unwinding after a long day.
Sample 2: Prefer Drinking Tea
For me, tea takes the cake when comparing it to coffee, as it can be enjoyed throughout the day without the jitters associated with excessive caffeine intake. While coffee can be a quick pick-me-up, it may also lead to sleep disturbances for some individuals. Tea, with its lower caffeine content, is a more balanced alternative that won’t keep you up at night.
Sample 3: Prefer Drinking Tea
To me, tea is synonymous with the notion of coziness and comfort. Curling up with a warm cup of tea on a rainy day or sharing a pot with friends creates an atmosphere of conviviality and togetherness. I find that tea not only warms the body but also the soul, making it my preferred beverage over coffee.
Sample 4: Prefer Drinking Coffee
I am inclined to choose coffee as my go-to beverage, as I find its taste and aroma more appealing than tea. Additionally, coffee houses have become social hubs, offering a cozy atmosphere to catch up with friends, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Sample 5: Prefer Drinking Coffee
My preference lies with coffee, as it not only stimulates my senses but also enhances my cognitive abilities. The caffeine content in coffee is known to improve alertness and concentration, allowing me to perform at my best throughout the day.
Sample 6: Prefer Drinking Coffee
While tea has its merits, I believe coffee is the elixir of life for me. The energizing effect of caffeine, combined with the comforting warmth of a freshly brewed cup, helps me tackle challenges head-on and seize the day with enthusiasm.
Sample 7: Prefer Both Equally
In my opinion, tea and coffee are two sides of the same coin, and I find myself drawn to both with equal fervor. While tea is synonymous with serenity and a gentle pick-me-up, coffee is the harbinger of energy and focus. I appreciate the distinct qualities of both and cannot choose one over the other.
Sample 8: Prefer Both Equally
As an avid beverage enthusiast, I find myself oscillating between tea and coffee with equal affinity. Each possesses its own unique allure, with tea offering tranquility and aromatic subtlety, while coffee provides a robust and invigorating experience. Thus, I relish both beverages depending on the situation and my mood.
Sample 9: Prefer Others
It may come as a surprise, but neither tea nor coffee holds a special place in my heart. I am partial to a refreshing glass of coconut water, which not only satiates my thirst but also replenishes essential electrolytes, keeping me energized throughout the day.
Sample 10: Prefer Others
I must admit that I don’t harbor a preference for either tea or coffee. Rather, my inclination lies in sipping on green smoothies, which boast a medley of wholesome ingredients and invigorate me with a burst of nutrients.
