Answers & Explanations Summary
| # | Answer | Evidence | Explanation |

| Q1 | $190 | They start at $80. That's the lowest we have usually. And they go up to $190 | Excerpt/Transcript Explanation: The transcript states that apartment prices begin at 80 dollars and can reach as high as 190 dollars. Answer Explanation: The answer is 190 dollars ($190), which is the highest price to rent an apartment each week. Reason For Correctness: The correct answer is $190 because the man explains the range of rental prices. He says the lowest rent starts at $80 and prices 'go up to $190'. The phrase 'go up to' means the upper limit or the 'maximum'. Therefore, the maximum weekly rental is $190. |
| Q2 | six months | Our contracts are for a standard of six months, and that can be extended | Excerpt/Transcript Explanation: The transcript states that the regular rental agreement is set for six months, and tenants have the option to make it longer. Answer Explanation: The answer means a time length of 6 months. Reason For Correctness: The correct answer is "six months" because the man explains that their standard rental contract lasts for six months, which can be extended if the renter wants to stay longer. This makes six months the basic minimum period required for a contract. |
| Q3 | easymove | The website is www.easymove.com, all in small letters | Excerpt/Transcript Explanation: The transcript states that the company's website address is www.easymove.com. Answer Explanation: The answer means the name of the website to visit is "easymove". Reason For Correctness: The correct answer is "easymove" because the woman asks to see property details, and the man suggests checking the Internet. He explicitly states that the website address is "www.easymove.com". Since the notes already provide "www." and ".com", the missing part in the blank is "easymove". |

| Q7 | C / E / H / F | What's included in the rent? Man: That depends, to a certain extent, although some things are standard in all flats. For example, every apartment has a closed circuit TV. Woman: Good. What about kitchen equipment, do you offer? Tableware? You know, plates, knives and forks, things like that Man: No, only a microwave oven and a fridge, I am afraid. Woman: OK. What about the utilities? Are they all included in the rental? Man: I don't think so. You see, you have to pay for the heating bills. Woman: What extra charges would I get? Is water extra? Man: Yes, it is. But the gas bill is part of the rent, and you don't have to pay for that |
Excerpt/Transcript Explanation: The transcript shows the man listing what is free with the rent. Every flat includes a TV, a microwave oven, and a fridge. Tenants must pay extra for heating and water, but they do not pay extra for the gas bill. Answer Explanation: The answer means that the closed circuit TV (C), microwave oven (E), fridge (H), and gas bill (F) are already included with the apartment at no extra cost. Reason For Correctness: The correct answer is C, E, H, and F because the man explains what comes with the rent. First, he states that all apartments have a "closed circuit TV" (C). Next, when the woman asks about kitchen items like tableware and utensils, he clarifies that they do not offer tableware, "only a microwave oven and a fridge" (E and H). Finally, when discussing utility bills, he explains that heating and water must be paid as extra charges, but "the gas bill is part of the rent, and you don't have to pay for that" (F). |
| Q8 | Angela Jacobs | Man: Can I have your full name? Woman: OK. It's Angela Jacobs. J-A-C-O-B-S | Excerpt/Transcript Explanation: The transcript shows the man asking for the woman's full name, and the woman clearly gives her name as Angela Jacobs. Answer Explanation: The answer means that the woman's complete first and last name is Angela Jacobs. Reason For Correctness: The correct answer is "Angela Jacobs" because the man asks the client for her "full name" so he can record her information, and she answers directly with "It's Angela Jacobs." She also spells her surname out letter by letter to confirm it. |
| Q9 | 4 Lion Road | Man: Angela Jacobs. Right, and your address, please. Woman: It's 4 Lion, like the animal, Road, Melford MF45JB | Excerpt/Transcript Explanation: The transcript shows the man asking for the woman's address, and she responds with house number 4 on Lion Road in Melford. Answer Explanation: The answer is the street address where the caller currently lives. Reason For Correctness: The correct answer is confirmed when the man asks the woman for her "address". She replies that it is "4 Lion, like the animal, Road", followed by the town and postcode. Therefore, "4 Lion Road" completes the street name part of the address. |
| Q10 | 09954721823 | Man: OK, and then I need to have a telephone number of yours. Woman: My mobile number is 09954721823. Would that do | Excerpt/Transcript Explanation: The transcript shows the man requesting the woman's telephone number, and the woman provides her number as 09954721823. Answer Explanation: The answer is the phone number 09954721823. Reason For Correctness: The correct answer is 09954721823 because the man asks for the client's telephone number, and the woman responds by giving her mobile phone number as 09954721823. |
Transcript
Man: Easy Move. Good morning. How can I help you?
Woman: Hello. I saw your advertisement in the paper and I'm calling to ask about renting an apartment.
Man: Certainly. What kind of apartment do you have in mind?
Woman: Well, er, I don't know exactly... I mean, it depends on price, to some extent.
Man: OK, now we have properties across the whole range. The average is probably $120 per week.
Woman: Oh, it's a little expensive than I thought.
Man: They start at $80. That's the lowest we have usually. And they go up to $190.
Woman: I could manage the lowest figure.
Man: An important question is how long you're planning to rent. We don't do short lets.
Woman: I'd want an apartment for nine months, perhaps longer.
Man: That would be fine. Our contracts are for a standard of six months, and that can be extended.
Woman: Fine. What about the viewing arrangement?
Man: Alright, can you come to our office on Thursday?
Woman: I'm afraid I don't have any availability on Thursday. How about Wednesday?
Man: Let me see. Um... OK, that'll be fine.
Woman: Oh, if possible, I'd like to see details of some properties first.
Man: We can post you a list. Or you may find it easier to look on the Internet. The website is www.easymove.com, all in small letters.
Woman: OK, got it. Thank you.
Man: What else would you like to know?
Woman: I wonder what I might need to buy. What's included in the rent?
Man: That depends, to a certain extent, although some things are standard in all flats. For example, every apartment has a closed circuit TV.
Woman: Good. What about kitchen equipment, do you offer? Tableware? You know, plates, knives and forks, things like that...
Man: No, only a microwave oven and a fridge, I am afraid.
Woman: OK. What about the utilities? Are they all included in the rental?
Man: I don't think so. You see, you have to pay for the heating bills.
Woman: What extra charges would I get? Is water extra?
Man: Yes, it is. But the gas bill is part of the rent, and you don't have to pay for that.
Woman: Right. I have made a note of that.
Man: Are you looking forward to moving in soon?
Woman: I hope so.
Man: The thing is, we have a few flats at the moment that we'd like to get rented out by the end of the month. I'll talk about them later. But first, let me take your details.
Woman: Sure.
Man: Can I have your full name?
Woman: OK. It's Angela Jacobs. J-A-C-O-B-S.
Man: Angela Jacobs. Right, and your address, please.
Woman: It's 4 Lion, like the animal, Road, Melford MF45JB.
Man: OK, and then I need to have a telephone number of yours.
Woman: My mobile number is 09954721823. Would that do?
Man: Of course. Now, let's take a look at the apartments I mentioned before...
