Well, I think that cultures play an important role in shaping how we perceive the world and how we react to it. The feelings of guilt are not born but are affected by cultures as well. For me, I think that people have many ways to react to the mistakes or the feelings of guilt, especially from two different cultures. For example, in Western countries, people care about individualism and universalistic culture. So, people focus on personal growth more than their societal consequences. However, if you live in a collectivist culture, like in Asian countries, you need to care about the punishment. That's it.
