I went there with my family about 10 years ago during the summer. Although our 10 day trip took place in August, the weather was extremely cold and rainy. In fact, it was so chilly, especially at night that we actually had to sleep wearing our jackets and wrapped in thick blankets. During my time there, I spent a lot of time exploring its cultural and historical landmarks. I walked through Kambar one of the oldest parks in Caucasus, which is full of massive Asian trees. I also visited the famous bottle house, a uniquely decorated building made from thousands of glass bottles, and paid a visit to the Nizami Genjemi Muzalium on the outskirts of the city to learn more about this legendary poet. Of course, no trip to Genjè is complete without sampling its local cuisine, so I am made sure to try Ganges style baklava and fresh kutaps. What I liked most about Ganges was its relaxed pace and warm hospitality. Unlike a bustling capital, the city feels grounded, green and steeped in tradition. I really want to revisit Gange, because my last trip there was long time ago. I would love to go back now as an adult and re-experience the city and use it as a base to explore natural sites, particularly Lake Gögöl and the surrounding national park.
