Good afternoon. One of the most unforgettable trips I’ve ever taken was a week-long getaway to Kyoto, Japan a couple of years ago. It was a breath of fresh air, both literally and figuratively, because I was burnt out from rake and desperately needed a change of scenery. From the moment I set foot in Kyoto, I was completely enchanted by its old world charm. The city is a perfect blend of tradition and modernity. I stayed in a coin-lailer orokon, which is a traditional Japanese inn, nestled in a peaceful neighborhood surrounded by cherry blossom trees. It was like stepping back in time. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the Foshimi Inari shrine, famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates. As I hiked up the mountain path lined with gates, I felt like I was in a tram. The serenity of the place gave me a chance to climb ahead and reflect. It truly was a soul-steering experience. I also had a chance to sample authentic Japanese cuisine. Everything from melt in your mouth, associated to warm, comforting bowls of ramen. I even tried machete in a traditional ceremony, which was the chari on top. What made the trip even more memorable was the people I met along the way. Despite the language barrier, the locals spent over backwards to help me. Their kindness will struck a chord with me and reminded me of the value of simple human connection. All in all, that trip was a real eye-opener. It broadened my horizons and reminded me of the importance of slowing down and appreciating the little things in life. It wasn’t just a vacation. It was a journey of self-discovery. So that’s all about the topic that I wanted to tell you.
