One of the most significant advice I have ever received in my life came from my mother. As an English teacher she was deeply invested in my success, particularly when it came to mastering the English language and preparing for the IELTS exam. She has always played a crucial role in my educational journey, while I was aparting the age of 13, my mother provided me this invaluable encouragement and practical strategies to improve my English. I was quite shy and often reluctant to speak even in my major language and this made the prospect of conversing with strangers quite daunting. However, my mother consistently wanted to build my confidence, pushing me gently to engage in conversations and practice speaking out loud in various settings. Her endeavouring support and belief in my potential were instrumental during this formative period. The advice she imparted to me not only revolved around improving my language skills but also emphasised the importance of self-confidence and perseverance. Throughout the preparation for the IELTS exam, she hoisted me to invest challenges as opportunities for growth were rather than obstacles, this mindset shift was crucial as it motivated me to tackle my fears, head on and pursue my goals despite my reservations about public speaking. Looking back, I can confidently say that my mother’s advice has had a profound impact on my life. It has not only helped me improve my English considerably, but has also instilled in me a greater sense of self-assurance and determination. I am immensely grateful for her dedication to my education and personal development. Her role as a supportive mother and passionate teacher and an inspiring role model has significantly shaped who I am today and I owe much of my achievements to her guidance.
