One of the most memorable pieces of advice I ever received was from my principal at my current school. She told me that the life I'm living right now isn't truly mine; rather, I'm in the process of building my future. The present life I experience is more reflective of my parents' life than my own. As a tool to grow, I often feel overwhelmed when starting to construct my own life. I once shared with her that I had a crush on something I took on and experienced a lot of, and she expressed her desire for me to achieve great things. She stressed the importance of independence and encouraged me to embrace adulthood. The advice was offered during class time, and it wasn't just directed at me; she shared it with all my classmates. I genuinely appreciate her for her words, as they stand out in my memory. I may not remember what others said, but her message connected with me very deeply. I can enrich my parents' experiences, and I realize how important their words are. This advice has left a lasting impact on me, continually shaping my outlook on the future and underscoring the significance of independence.
