If I had to describe a place in my city that is very famous for its wildlife, it would be the Yala National Park, which is situated in the southeastern part of the country and very close to the Indian Ocean. The reason I say this is a place that is home to about 154 species of mammals and around 54 species of birds. I recently visited this national park, and it is home to endemic species, such as the Sri Lankan leopard, which is only found in Sri Lanka, as well as animals like the Asian elephants, crocodiles, peacocks, and the sloth bear. I would highly recommend this place since there is so much biodiversity and so much to look at and experience. The best time to visit Yala National Park would be from February to July, as that is the dry season when more animals tend to come out looking for water and food. You can then spot all these various kinds of animals on a small tour, like a safari. I would not recommend visiting in the months of September, as that is also the dry season.
