Well, one of the most valuable skills I have ever learned is public speaking. It may sound simple, but for someone like me who used to be shy and nervous in front of people, it was life changing. This skill has helped me become more confident, express my thoughts clearly and even perform better in both academic and social settings. I learned this skill two years ago when I joined a local youth lab. It was a small community group that arranged weekly discussions and many group activities. One of our senior members who was a retired English teacher used to guide us. He always encouraged us to speak up and share our opinions. I can still remember how he personally helped me with tips on voice modulation, voice body language and how to overcome stage fright. So in a way, I learned this skill both from an experienced elder and through group activities which made this learning process even more effective. I initially wanted to learn this skill because I had a terrible fear of speaking in front of others. You know, when I was in school, I avoided any kind of public performance or presentations, but I knew that if I wanted to succeed in my life, I had to overcome this fear. However, after practicing for a few months and getting support from the groups, I started noticing real improvements. Now, I can speak clearly in front of a large audience whether it’s in a classroom, a meeting or a social event. I feel really proud of learning this skill. It has improved my communication leadership and thinking abilities. In fact, it has become such a passion for me that I want to take it to the next level and even learn possessive speaking skill in future. I am truly grateful for learning this skill and will cherish it always.
